Lopez Tabor Duo to Perform at The Music Center

September 18th concert features the return of the popular duo

The Lopez Tabor Duo, a violin and piano duo featuring violinist Alfonso Lopez from Venezuela and pianist Michelle Tabor from Florida, will present a performance of chamber selections at The Music Center at Temple Beth Israel on Tuesday, September 18.  The 7 PM performance will mark the Duo’s fourth appearance at The Music Center. The Music Center is located at 761 Chestnut Street in downtown Gadsden.

The Lopez Tabor Duo has been performing together since 2004.  Alfonso Lopez is the Concertmaster of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, and also serves as a member of the conducting staff.  Lopez is also a recognized teacher and composer.  He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from the University of Michigan.  Michelle Tabor holds degrees in piano and music theory from Tulane University (Bachelors), the University of Denver (Masters), and Florida State University (Doctorate).

The program for the Duo’s performance includes music by Beethoven (Sonata in E-Flat Major for Piano and Violin); Gershwin (selections from “Porgy and Bess”); Saint-Saens; Granados; Lara; Lecuona; Rodriguez; and Chollett.

The performance is free and is open to the public. Maestro Lopez will also be in residence with the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra while in Gadsden, leading the EYSO in rehearsal, performing for the students, and doing a Q&A session with the Orchestra.

The Etowah Youth Orchestras is a project of the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation.
