In addition to our current programming we have added:

Things with Wings
Explore insects and their world.  Younger children will explore the life cycle of the Blue Morpho Butterfly and older children (3rd grade and up) will explore insect flight and vision using art and scientific experimentation, including a look into their ultra-violet world.
Stay In Bounds
Students will explore character traits while learning about the history of Alabama collegiate sports.  This includes a tour of our sports exhibit and a scavenger hunt.
Shades of Me Tolerance Program
Learn about the many shades, but single color, of human skin.  Students will use science and art to debunk the idea of “red and yellow, black and white” while learning the importance of tolerating  differences and appreciating diversity.
Downtown Gadsden Walking Tour
Learn everything you never knew about historic downtown Gadsden on a Segway led walking tour with our own Bobby Welch, Director of the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation.
World of Puppets
Use puppets to explore a world of tolerance.  Program includes a puppet show and a puppet workshop so that the puppet fun can continue back at school
The Science and Art of Chocolate
Explore the world and origin of our countries most popular confection.  Children will sample various chocolates and go behind the scenes of Martha and Junes Chocolate Shop to see chocolate artists at work before creating their own chocolate master piece.
Leonardo’s Workshop
Discover the ultimate renaissance man.  Explore your own creativity and ingenuity while learning about the art and inventions of Leonardo DaVinci
Valley of the Kings Workshop (add on for GMA King Tut Fieldtrips)
After exploring the Tut exhibit your students can learn more about Egyptology with a “mini dig” and cartouche workshop. Miniature pyramids complete with tiny “artifacts” await your eager explorers
The Gentle Gorilla
Develop a deeper understanding of these often misunderstood creatures.  Children will learn about primate communication, behavior and biology and afterward they will learn some signs from Gorilla Sign Language and steps that are being taken to preserve this endangered gentle giant.
Step through the Wardrobe (available in the month of November only)*
Students will explore the Narnia Chronicles through puppet or mask making then re-create a scene from the one of the books using green screen technology. Teachers will receive a digital copy of the finished product and children will be able to view it on the web.  A screening of one of the films can be scheduled as well.

Call today schedule your field trip or we'll come to your school

  • EPA’s "Growth and Water Resources" Training Module Available Online

A new online, distance learning training module called “Growth and Water Resources” is available on EPA's Watershed Academy Web at: http://www.epa.gov/watertrain/smartgrowth/.
Developed by EPA’s Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds Smart Growth Team, the training module explains how changes in land use affect water resources, and presents national data on trends in development patterns and activities on land that have become increasingly significant challenges for achieving water quality standards. The module describes a combination of approaches to accommodate future growth in a way that benefits the economy and the environment and will help us meet out water resource goals. The module also includes a “tools” section with links to online resources.
