Summer Camp
It’s summer, the time for adventure and fun and if they learn something along the waywe won’t tell! Imagination place has four camps that will intrigue kids all summer long!  Spots are limited, so be sure to book in advance.

June 9th-12th
How it’s Made Camp!

This camp is full of innovative ideas and yummy treats! We will visit an ice-cream factory, make some chocolate treats at the candy shop and visit California Pizza Kitchen to learn how to make the perfect pizza. We will tour the Times to see how the newspaper is produced then make our own and learn to be puppet masters after creating some original puppets. This is just the beginning; the entire week is filled with activities that will spark your child’s creative side!

June 16th-20th (5-day Camp)
It’s a Jungle Out There!

Calling all animal lovers! Campers get up close and personal with some animals at the zoo. We will go on a wild safari ride, and meet up with  some local animal lovers! Campers will adopt-a-plush pet, make their own pet tag and learn about taking care of a pet.


July 14th-18th (5-day camp)
Splash & Roll!

Get soaked with summer fun at its finest! Enjoy a week of summer activities like skating and swimming. We will take golf lessons from a pro and take a trip to a wet and wild water park. Campers come late on Friday and join us for kids-night-out sleep over Luau glowing oceans extravaganza!

Art of the Outdoors
Enjoy the beauty of Alabama’s outdoor wonders. Be inspired by the parks, caves, and scenery then create your masterpiece! We will learn about nature photography, natural artifact printing and explore other art techniques while exploring the wonders of Alabama’s natural beauty.  This week is full of hiking and swimming so bring your energy and appetite for adventure. It’s sure to bring out the nature lover in all of us.
Camp rates include lunch, dinner for the over-night on July 18th and snacks:
$175.00/week for non-members *$5 registration fee for non-members
$155.00/week for members
Due to our limited amount of spots, daily fees will not be permitted unless the camps do not book up. You may be put on a waiting list, and we will call you if a day becomes available.

We will meet at the Cultural Arts Center each morning @ 9:00, and children will need to be picked up by 4:30. *Some days we may need to leave earlier and return later, but proper notice will be provided.

Special Summer Events at Imagination Place

Family Nights at Imagination Place
Enjoy Imagination Place at night with your family.  Each of the scheduled evenings will include a family activity, touring a special exhibit with an educator and games for the whole family.  Programs are held on Thursday evenings; doors will remain open at 5:00 and close at 8:30p.m. Regular admission will be charged.

Good Sports Family Night Event May 9th –Make a family team pennant, enjoy a guided tour of our Art of Competition sports exhibit and search for clues in our family sports scavenger hunt!

Under the Stars Family Night Event June 5th –Explore the universe in our planetarium and the night sky in our courtyard. Make a glowing star chart and have a space race while learning about the galaxy!

Under the Sea Family Night Event July 25th – Learn about bio luminescent sea creatures and explore the glowing oceans of the world.  Make a variety of glowing sea creatures after exploring the amazing sea life that create their own light.

Kid’s Night Out
Parents enjoy a night off while your children have fun with us.  Each evening includes games, art, science, free play in the museum and dinner.  Drop your children off at six and pick them up at 9:00 so that you can have a quiet evening, see that movie you want to see or have a peaceful dinner all for less than it costs to take them out for the night with you!  Kid’s night out is $12.00 for the first child, $8.00 each additional child per family includes three hours child care, activities and dinner.

11th and 12th The Brain: A Users Guide @1:00 Children and adults alike will learn about their brains, test their own perception and be introduced to techniques to enrich their learning while parents learn techniques for enriching their children’s learning abilities.  With special guest speaker Dr. David Merwine

Dr. David K. Merwine, Ph.D. is the Director of the Anatomy & Physiology and Neurobiology coursework at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.  He has extensive K-12 educational outreach experience and has presented at the National Science Teachers Association’s Annual Meeting, for the Society for Neuroscience’s Brain Awareness Week Program, and at the Crystal Stairs Play+Learn+Grow Conference in Los Angeles.  He has a number of scientific publications, most notably in Brain Research, the Journal of Neurophysiology, Visual Neuroscience, the Encyclopedia of Cognitive Science, and the Handbook of Brain Theory and Neural Networks. 

 




Imagination Place Hours are Monday through Saturday 9 am until 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm until 5 pm
