calendar of summer events!
In June
June 5th
Kick off summer with your family at June’s 1st Friday and our Summer Splash Celebration. Enjoy games, crafts and more. Create your own tie-dye masterpiece. We will supply everything you need, including instruction on a variety of techniques. * Additional charge for tie-dye. Pre dyed shirts will also be available for purchase. Be sure we have your size in stock by calling 543-2787 ext.23 and reserving yours today.
June 8th -12th
Cooking Camps at IP. 3-5 year olds will learn the basics of measurement and chemical reaction while preparing some of their favorite foods. Working with a real chef, 6-12 year olds will learn kitchen safety, pastry and other cooking techniques before facing off for a Jr. Chef Challenge at the end of the week. Teens can join in the action with our in-house culinary academy and work with real chefs and go behind the scenes to learn the ins and outs of this exciting field.
June 15th-19th
Circus Arts and Clowning. It’s time to run away to join the circus, have fun, learn all kinds of cool tricks and get plenty of exercise. Children aged 3 to 5 will clown around with our educators while they learn the basics of clowning and illusion. Older children will enjoy the no-risk environment to try something new. Whether you're an accomplished athlete or just want to learn how to juggle, our circus camp will help you find your hidden talents. Learn how to walk a tightrope, walk on stilts, basic tumbling, juggling, clowning, physical comedy and more. Any level of physical development & skill is welcomed.
June 15th-19th
Animation Camps and Academy. Do you love cartoons? Come create your own moving pictures in animation camp. We will look at ways animations are made both on and off-screen. Children 10-16 will learn methods of stop-motion animation and then create their own animated cartoon with the help of our educators! Teens will also get an introduction to computer generated animation.

July 3rd
July’s 1st Friday will be hot! Cool down in front of IP with some bubble fun and science. Explore square bubbles and prism bubbles. Create giant bubbles and bubble art. Still hot? Our front doors are open and you can purchase Hardin Center admission right on Broad Street. Come inside where it’s cool at Imagination Place, visit the Hardin Center to view the “Ink & Blood” exhibit and our tribute to air-conditioning, then cool off with an iced mocha or ice cream from Starbuck’s.
July 13th -17th
Splash into summer fun! We’re offering a week of summer fun with water parks, wild animals, fun in the sun and swimming lessons for those who need them. Campers get up close and personal with some animals at the zoo and go on a wild safari ride. Perfect for all water and animal lovers!
July 17th**
Have some cool summer fun at our Kid's Night Out Laua! Children will have their own "island getaway" with games, fun science, a luau feast, art and more. Parents enjoy a night off while your children have fun with us. Drop your children off at 6:00 and pick them up at 9:00 so that you can have a quiet evening, see that movie you want to see or have a peaceful dinner all for less than it costs to take them out for the night with you!
July 20th – 24th
Tot Heroes. Children age 3 to 5 will spend the week learning about what it takes to be super! We’ll talk to local heroes from the police department, fire department, emergency room and more. Like all super-heroes, children will leave camp with a hero’s code of ethics, a hero’s sense of community and, of course, their own cape!

Art Adventures. Explore the art of Alabama, America and the World. We’ll learn from local artists, explore art techniques from around the world and get an up close look at glass blowing, sculpting, metal arts, as well as illustration and painting techniques. There will be plenty of time for fun in the sun too.

Jewelry and Metal Arts Academy. An introduction to fine arts metalsmithing for teens that will cover basic forming, surfacing and embellishing and solder free joining techniques. Projects will include an open form sterling silver ring, heat patina copper sculpture, wire wrap jewelry and more.
July 27th – 30th
Space and Rocket Camp. Campers will learn about the galaxy and solar system with our StarLab portable planetarium. The campers will also learn about rocketry, gravity, aerodynamics and astronaut training. The campers will get to build their own rockets and at the end of the week the staff will blast them off for them. We will have space sports, space art, interactive games and more. Perfect for future astronauts, scientists, and astronomers.
**Kid’s Day/Night Out-
Parents enjoy a night off while your children have fun with us. Each evening includes games, art, science, free play in the museum and dinner. Drop your children off at six and pick them up at 9:00 so that you can have a quiet evening, see that movie you want to see or have a peaceful dinner all for less than it costs to take them out for the night with you!
Kid’s Day/Night Out prices are $12 for the first child $8 for each additional child from the same household. (Members pay $10/$7)

*Staff are CPR/1st Aid Certified
$175.00/week for non-members
*$5 registration fee for non-members
$155.00/week for members with
no registration fee for members
Sign-in is at the Cultural Arts Center each morning from 8:30 - 9:00, and sign-out is at
4:30. Extended care is available from 8:00 to 5:30 for an additional $10.00 per week.
*Some days we may need to leave earlier and/or return later, but proper notice will be provided.
