First program of the season features Mozart, Sousa, Sibeilus, and more

The 2016-2017 season of the Etowah Youth Orchestras, opens on Sunday, November 6 with the EYO Fall Formal Concert.  The concert, which is a part of the Daniel Foundation of Alabama Concert Series, will be held at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on the campus of Gadsden State Community College.  The 2 PM performance will feature the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Program selections for the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra include Mozart’s Overture from The Marriage of Figaro; the finale of Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2; music from the motion picture Spider-Man by Danny Elfman; and the World Premiere Performance of the orchestral version of Five by Chattanooga composer Kenyon Wilson.  The Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform Sousa’s The White Rose March; Journey Through the Snow from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker; Holst’s First Suite in E-Flat Major; and Noisy Wheels of Joy by Eric Whitacre.

Tickets for the EYO Fall Formal Concert are $10-12, and are available online at www.wallacehall.org and in person at the front desk of the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts.  Tickets may also be purchased at the Wallace Hall box office on the day of the performance, beginning one hour prior to the concert.
