EYO Announces 2nd Round of Auditions for the 2020-2021 Season
Openings available in all EYO after-school ensembles
The Etowah Youth Orchestras, Northeast Alabama’s premiere youth orchestra program, is pleased to announce a second round of auditions for the 2020-2021 season. The EYO will be auditioning for open spots in all of its after-school ensembles, including the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Etowah Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Etowah String Sinfonia.
Auditions for all ensembles will be held on the following days and times:
Tuesday, July 14th – 9 AM-12 PM, 1-5 PM, 6-8 PM
Thursday, July 16th – 9 AM-12 PM, 1-5 PM
All auditions will be held at the Music Center at Temple Beth Israel, located at 761 Chestnut Street in downtown Gadsden.
The Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra – the EYO’s flagship ensemble – is an advanced full orchestra with strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. The EYSO performs standard orchestral repertoire from all genres, including concert, stage, screen and more. The Etowah Youth Philharmonic Orchestra – also a full orchestra – is a high-intermediate ensemble performing quality transcriptions of symphonic works, along with other diverse repertoire. The Etowah String Sinfonia, an intermediate string orchestra, performs versions of works by the great composers along with original and popular music.
Auditions for the EYO’s after-school ensembles base acceptance entirely on each student’s current level of performance ability, as opposed to strictly age and grade level. Students must have a minimum of two years of performing experience on their instrument to audition.
All three ensembles will hold auditions for string section members – violins, violas, cellos and string basses. The two full orchestras also have openings for flutes, oboes, clarinets, bass clarinets, bassoons, French horns, trombones, percussionists and pianists for the 2020-2021 season.
Complete audition information, including all audition requirements and required music, along with the audition registration form, can be found on the EYO website, www.myeyo.org. Scroll to the bottom of the “About The EYO” page to find all of the links and audition information.
The Etowah Youth Orchestras is a project of the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation, in partnership with the Attalla City, Etowah County, and Gadsden City Boards of Education, and the City of Gadsden.
