The Book Lady Saturday Reading Programs

Imagination Place is pleased to present The Book Lady one Saturday each month. The Book Lady reads to children and brings stories to life. Each session will also include an activity or demonstration. Our Saturday Book Lady programs are free with regular admission ($8 per person, free for children under 24 months, and free for our members).

The Book Lady programs begin at 11 am.

Saturday, March 4:
The Day the Crayons Quit

Poor Duncan just wants to color, but when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: his crayons have had enough! They quit! Beige Crayon is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown Crayon. Black wants to be used for more than just outlining. Blue needs a break from coloring all those bodies of water. And Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking–each believes he is the true color of the sun. What can Duncan possibly do to appease all the crayons and get them back to doing what they do best?

Follow-up activities: color-mixing demonstration with food coloring

Saturday, April 1

Getrude McFuzz

This story recounts the tale of Gertrude McFuzz, who has one small, plain tail feather and wants big, bright, beautiful tail feathers. She soon finds berries that will make her tail grow to an enormous size when she eats them!

Follow-up activities: learn interesting facts about birds and enjoy a feather relay race
